R'nB-screamer Barrence Whitfield is een man die leeft voor het tijdperk waarin rhythm 'n blues en rock 'n roll hand in hand gingen. Zijn opzwepende muziek en over-the-top zangstijl maken hem een top frontman.. een uitzinnige soulzanger in de geest van Little Richard, Wilson Pickett en Don Covay.

Whitfield werd geboren als Barry White in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1955. Als kind verhuisde zijn familie naar New Jersey waar hij begon te zingen in een gospelkoor. Tijdens zijn studie aan de West Side High School zong en drumde hij in rock en funkbands. Hij kon zingen met dezelfde passie en kracht als zijn helden. Begin jaren '80 nam hij de artiestennaam Barrence Whitfield aan om te voorkomen dat hij werd aangezien voor superster Barry White en begon hij met voormalige leden van de Lyres op te treden als Barrence Whitfield & the Savages. 

Ze toerden wereldwijd en deden support shows tijdens Amerikaanse tournees van artiesten als Bo Diddley, Tina Turner, George Thorogood, Robert Cray en Solomon Burke. Whitfield verscheen in de Jools Holland Show van de BBC en leverde ook bijdragen aan filmmuziek, zoals die van de film Honeydripper uit 2007. Het album 'Dig Thy Savage Soul' uit 2022 van Barrence Whitfield & The Savages is beïnvloed door de oude R&B-meesters en the Sonics. Hij beschrijft zijn muziek zelf als "het geven van een muzikale karateslag op het hoofd van de jeugd". Hij wordt de 'missing link' tussen Chuck Berry en Jack White genoemd en woont momenteel in Boston.

The Savoys zijn door de Nederlandse ‘guitar slinger’ CC Jerome opgericht. CC tourt al jaren door het internationale rhythm 'n blues en rock 'n roll circuit en heeft hiermee een goede naam opgebouwd. The Savoys bestaat naast CC Jerome uit gelauwerde muzikanten, incl. sax, orgel, bas en drums. De optredens zijn altijd een groot swingend feest. CC Jerome & the Savoys hebben door de jaren heen regelmatig buitenlandse artiesten begeleid, in diverse genres als R’nR, R’nB, Rockabilly, Blues, Soul, Gospel, Ska, Rocksteady, Swingjazz, Boogie en Jump-Jive. Zo zijn er opnames en/of optredens geweest met namen als Gizzelle, Natty Bo, Nikki Hill, Earl Jackson, Dylan Kirk, Georgina Peach, Cody Lee, Augie Burr, Rusty Pinto, Mike Sanchez, the Firebirds, Si Cranstoun, Laura Ashleigh en Otis Gayle. Nu worden met Barrence Whitfield de handen ineengeslagen voor een hi-energy R'nB show!

R'nB howler Barrence Whitfield is a man who lives for the era when rhythm 'n blues and rock 'n roll walked hand in hand. His revved up music and over-the-top vocal style make him a top frontman.. a frantic soul shouter in the spirit of Little Richard, Wilson Pickett and Don Covay.

Whitfieldwas born Barry White in Jacksonville, Florida, 1955. When he was a child his family moved to New Jersey where he began singing in a gospel choir. While attending West Side High School he sang and played drums in rock and funk bands. He could sing with the same passion and power as his heroes. After adopting the stage name Barrence Whitfield in the early 80's (to avoid being mistaken for superstar Barry White) he began performing with former members of the Lyres as Barrence Whitfield & the Savages. They toured worldwide and won supporting slots on US tours with such artists as Bo Diddley, Tina Turner, George Thorogood, Robert Cray and Solomon Burke. Whitfield appeared on the BBC's Jools Holland Show and has also contributed to film scores like the 2007 film Honeydripper. The 2022 album of Barrence Whitfield & The Savages 'Dig Thy Savage Soul' has influences of the old R'nB masters and the Sonics as well. He describes his music as "giving the kids a musical karate chop to the head." He has been called the ‘missing link’ between Chuck Berry and Jack White and currently lives in Boston.

The Savoys were founded by Dutch guitar slinger CC Jerome. CC has been touring the international rhythm 'n blues and rock 'n roll circuit for many years and built up a steady name in the vintage scene. In addition to CC Jerome, The Savoys consists of acclaimed musicians, including sax, organ, bass and drums. The performances are always a big swinging party. CC Jerome & the Savoys have accompanied many artists over the years, in various genres such as R'nR, R'nB, Rockabilly, Soul, Gospel, Ska, Rocksteady, Swingjazz, Blues, Boogie and Jump-Jive. There have been recordings and performances with names such as Gizzelle, Natty Bo, Nikki Hill, Otis Gayle, Earl Jackson, Dylan Kirk, Georgina Peach, Cody Lee, Augie Burr, Rusty Pinto, Mike Sanchez, the Firebirds, Si Cranstoun and Laura Ashleigh.  Now they join forces with the great Barrence Whitfield for a high-energy R'nB show!
